As I review more and more first questions, I'm seeing a decent number of questions where the poster has a dataset and has some vague ideas of what to do with it, but doesn't necessarily have a simple question. It's more of a request for consultation on how to proceed in general. I've read this post, and I have no problem with people asking for help regardless of what that help is for (job, homework, etc.). Asking for help is great. However, I wonder how helpful it is for the site to be filled with questions that are too complex. I know that we have the share feedback options including "question is too broad" and the other option that I'm blanking on now!
What is the stance of CV and SE in general for this kind of thing? I can link to a specific one, but don't want to unfairly single anyone out. I want this to be a welcoming place as it was for me in the beginning.
