How to ask whether I have understood a subject correctly?

I have a question (for StackExchange) about the algorithm used by a specific statistical tool. The information is there in the published article, but it is too densely written for me to understand, and does not provide enough explanations of basic terminology.

Before asking the question on the forums however, I have made an attempt to understand the subject myself - using ChatGPT. I made an effort, and it seems I got the gist of it.

However, now I would like to verify my understanding (especially since I'll pass it on by explaining to other team members). What is an acceptable way of asking whether my understanding of an algorithm (of a statistical tool) is correct?

I will just clarify that the initial question I had in mind was not asked on the forum previously. So I can can pose the problem as a question, but I would like also at least to be productive and to add my 2 cents of understanding of the issue discussed - in a reasonable manner.
